Civitas LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce awards honor those organizations and individuals who have helped to reduce barriers for LGBTQ+-owned businesses, fuel economic growth in the region, and grow and advocate for inclusive workplaces and supply chains.
Award Categories

Certified Business of the Year
Certified businesses are the heart and soul of Civitas. This award recognizes an NGLCC LGBTQ+ Business Enterprise (LGBTBE®) certified business that is making its mark on the business community across the Ohio River Valley region. Must hold current NGLCC LGBTBE® certification at the time of award.

Small/Medium Business of the Year
This category recognizes small to medium-sized businesses (under 500 employees) that demonstrate exceptional growth, innovation, and commitment to inclusive business practices in the Ohio River Valley. Business does not need to be LGBTQ+-owned but must be an outspoken or renowned ally of the LGBTQ+ community if not LGBTQ+-owned. Ideal for entrepreneurs driving economic opportunity while supporting diverse communities.

Corporation of the Year
This award honors a corporation with 500+ employees that has demonstrated sustained or concerted effort to include LGBTQ+-owned businesses in their supply chain and/or implement LGBTQ+-friendly policies in their workplaces. Nominees should show leadership in corporate equality, supplier diversity programs, or measurable progress in LGBTQ+ inclusion. Must operate in or serve the Ohio River Valley region.

Community Partner of the Year
This award celebrates those who show up for our community. Open to small/medium businesses, nonprofits, corporations, or individuals who have demonstrated leadership and commitment to improving life for LGBTQ+ residents and businesses throughout Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and Southwestern Ohio. Nominees should show sustained impact through programs, advocacy, resources, or partnership.

Ally of the Year
This individual award recognizes someone who is not a member of the LGBTQ+ community but has demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing LGBTQ+ rights, business opportunities, and community wellbeing. True allyship requires courage, consistency, and commitment. Ideal for business leaders, elected officials, or individuals using their platform to create pathways for LGBTQ+ business owners and professionals.
